Friday's Food for Thought

via

This is oh so darn true and this has become more visible to me this week than ever before!
At times, you want to be right.
You will twist and turn any way you can just so at the end of the day You. Are. Right.

Other days, it's about battles- and picking your battles wisely.
Alex has said before, "What good is it to win the battle and lose the war?"
I am raising him right! ;) Haha... {Juuuuust kidding}- but no really, what good is it?!
Sometimes it's better to be KIND and EMPATHETIC.
You know, ask yourself, "Would I want to be treated this way?"
And if the answer is a big fat N-O, then rearrange how you're going about doing whatever it is you're doing.

Also, sometimes you just need to sit still, stop talking, and LISTEN.
Others have things to say as well, and often times they will make good, valid points.
Sometimes it's even for your benefit to listen to others so you don't make the same mistake again.
What's the most important, though, is-- when you stop worrying about being right, and start being kind, and stop what you're doing, and listen to others, and you realize that maybe, just maybe, you are not right you realize you need to APOLOGIZE.
Is it the end of the world?? I think not.
It may or may not be a bruise to your ego, but consider it one of life's lessons and move on and GROW from the experience, rather than being stubborn, rude, "right," and inconsiderate.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Hope during your season of waiting

I just wanted to remind those of you out there that have forgotten (while also reminding myself) that God is so so so good and when we think that we are missing out, it's just because He has a much more perfect plan for us.  We just see the here and now and often forget to look outside of our box and see how our disappointments could possibly be for the better. I vow to continue to try my hardest to keep the faith that God knows what He's doing and knows what's best for me more than I do.  Just when you think you can't take anymore, God finds a way to surprise you with the most richest blessings! Being patient, keeping faith, and (here's the kicker) attempting to not be so darn anxious while you wait is what pleases God the most. It also makes the ride a lot more bearable.

I hope that if you think you're missing out, or  you're bummed because something's not going your way, to please remember that God loves you and only wants what's best for you.  We often think we know what's best for us, but we don't. We really don't.

The following are some Bible verses and random quotes that I had found years ago (I'm sure it was during a time when Alex and I were not dating and I was having a hard time), but I just found so much hope in Bible verses and quotes. I still do.  I think they're super relatable and  say words that you often can't come up with yourself.  My current issues of waiting does not have anything to do with Alex. (So now y'all, this doesn't have to do with marriage, him proposing, anything of that nature. So hold the comments if you will.)  But these are something I held highly at one point, and I know that someone out there will be able to use them today for whatever it is they're going through.  They all are pretty ambiguous, meaning that they aren't specific to one area. You could be able to apply them to any period of waiting that you're currently going through.  I hope this finds it's way to those who need it.  :-)

"God may not always give us answers, but he always gives us grace."

"Sometimes it's best to forget how you feel and remember what you deserve."

I understand that it's not understandable; only You, Lord, know EVERYTHING.
The bigger picture is so much more beautiful.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." -Proverbs 3:5-6

"Faith is being sure of what we hope for but certain of what we do not see." -Hebrews 11:1

"Beginnings are scary. Endings are usually sad, but it's what's in the middle that counts.
So, when you find yourself at the beginning, just give hope a chance to float up. And it will." -Hope Floats

"Waiting for God's perfect timing can save you years of heartbreak.
Remember, God is faithful and always keeps His promises...even if you have to wait."

"Always remember, it's not what He's keeping from you, it's what He's SAVING FOR you."

I can't do everything but I need to do more.

"You can't do everything." -My dad

My dad warned me of this when I was a teenager. When I was in middle school & high school, trying to run here & there, participate in this & that, make two parties in one night, you know, typical crazy  busy-people things. I don't know if it was age or exhaustion, but I finally realized that {bracing myself to say this} but... My. Dad. Was. Right.

After a long day of working, I would love love love to: eat dinner, spend time with my grandparents, watch some TV shows, do some laundry, do the dishes, blog, read for pleasure, do a nightly devotion.....oh, and see my boyfriend.  The bad thing is is that my nights usually look a little something like this: Work til 6:30-7:00ish, go to my grandparents to eat dinner (kill two birds with one stone), get home around 8ish, thank God my boyfriend doesn't mind traveling to BFE to come hang out with me, watch a couple shows with Mom & Alex, head to bed to play on my phone for a little while I "wind down" & hope to be asleep before 11:30. {It takes me forever to get to sleep.} Guess what didn't get done: everything else.

I don't know what's going on with me, but I am a super sleeper lately. I should say super napper instead of super sleeper because it takes me forever to get to sleep & it is an act of Congress to get me out of the bed in the mornings.  Alex  blames soft drinks, of course, but that's a risk I feel like I'm going to have to take right now. ;) BUT- this weekend, let me tell you, I have slept like a DOG! I have napped until I felt guilty. I have slept, slept, and slept some more. I chalked it up to saying on Twitter, "Saturdays are for being lazy," and "Sundays are for church and napping."

Now, one could argue that I can't get anything done if I nap, but I am being serious when I say that I have felt SUCH the need to sleep sleep and sleep some more lately. I don't know why! But, I know I've got a busy week ahead & I've got to be prepared, and hit the ground running! That is my plan, so, tonight I spend my Sunday evening catching up on paperwork from work, and feeling SUPER rested after a FOUR hour NAP after church this morning. SERIOUSLY. I have slept this weekend away!!

How does that tie in with the quote from my dad? I don't know. I think I'm procrastinating again but I DO think I had a point. And I think that point is: I can't do everything, but I need to find a way to do more.

So, the weekend's almost over. I must go back to work.
I need to figure out a better plan though because this not getting anything done crap is for the birds.
One thing I can say proudly is that FACEBOOK has not been the reason for me not getting things done.
I can proudly say that I have spent 6 whole days OFF of Facebook and I haven't really missed it have only missed it a little. :) Yay me!
I'll be honest: I am tweeting more but, I mean, come on! {I will work on it. I promise.}

Until then: holler at me on twitter: @nsykes0921 -- say hello! I would love to know who actually reads these durn things. :)

Bits of Truth

I found an awesome blog, Bits of Truth. I'm a quote-lovin' girl & these just make me happy to see/read/share. Here's some ones I love that I found browsing the site while Alex and my mom watched Football Friday Night:

I know because I tried.

Goodbye January

I changed my calendar over to February today! I will missing seeing this picture (below) every day, making me smile. Click the picture if it's too small for your liking, but, it says:

She welcomes the years
with arms open wide
and loves life with the
kind of passion
that comes
straight from God.

I love my wall calendar! I always find the best, most cutest, inspirational calendars at Christian book stores! And *as always* ... on sale. :)

Fam(ILY)

Family
I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
'Oh excuse me please' was my reply.
He said, 'Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you.'
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking an evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
'While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
But the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door...
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
You never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.'
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.
'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'
He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'
I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'
He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway.'
I said, 'Son I love you too,
And I do like the flowers, especially the blue.'

I read this tonight on someone else's blog and it spoke to my heart. No, I don't have children yet, but I do see parents speaking to their children in this way in times of frustration- and I too am guilty of treating some that I love {and who love me the most} the worst at times. It's something that convicts my heart and I pray about often. I try to catch myself but often times I find it easy to just lash out because I know I am unconditionally loved.

Which also got me to think...

Does that mean we're abusing that unconditional love? Or are we taking it for granted? Or taking advantage of it? Does everyone do this- or is it just a couple of us horrible ones?

I feel like at times, as Christians, we also do this. We take our Father's unconditional love for granted, knowing that He loves us no matter how harsh we are, no matter what stupid things we do, no matter what we say. He is there to forgive us if we genuinely ask for it. I appreciate this, and realize how often I might take His love for granted. Forgive me Father, because I certainly don't want to come across this way- I don't want to BE this way. I want to act like I love you, because I love you. I want to do what makes you happy, because I love you. I simply want to live as if I love you. Thank you, Lord, for your unconditional love, and forgive me for my selfishness.

I'll end tonight's blog by getting back to family...

Here are some are my favorite quotes about family. Enjoy! :)

"You don't choose your family.  They are God's gift to you, as you are to them."
{Desmond Tutu}

"To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there."
{Barbara Bush}

"Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family."
{Anthony Brandt}

“One of life's greatest mysteries is how the boy who wasn't good enough to marry your daughter can be the father of the smartest grandchild in the world.”

“A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life.”

“The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”
{Theodore Hesburgh}

“A father is someone who carries pictures in his wallet where his money used to be.”

“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.”
{Anne Frank}

“Families are about love overcoming emotional torture.”
{Matt Groening}

"Treat your family like friends and your friends like family."

I love love.

Sometimes we'll be piled on the couch, wearing sweats, eating the kind of ice cream we like, watching our favorite TV show, talking in the shorthand way we talk that nobody else understands, and I'll realize that this every day, simple, no-big-deal moment... this is my happiness.
"Love is what makes you smile when you are tired." ~Terri, age 4.
I'd rather have a hand full of handpicked wild flowers than a bouquet of roses... a sweet note on a post-it than a poem... a thoughtful gift rather than an expensive one... an afternoon laying in the grass watching the clouds or the stars than a 5 star restaurant... a wink from across the room, a simple smile, a knock on the door at 1 AM just to say goodnight, a soft prayer in the middle of the silence....

I love that boy. :)

Love Is Patient. - Quotes

I found a Word document in my computer that had a bunch of old quotes I'd saved- probably from away messages and old Facebook quotes. Either way, today I give them away to you :) You can probably guess what stage in life I was in while I saved these quotes. So, please note, these quotes are still fabulous, yet do not currently reflect my current stage of life. Well, some are timeless...but you get what I was saying.

"Sometimes we just have to wait for what God has in store for us rather than trying to make things happen. Instead of worrying about what the future holds, learn to just 'be still' and know that God is God, and He knows your heart's desires."

"After he left, I cried for a week. And then I realized I do have faith- faith in myself, faith that I would one day meet someone, who would be sure that I was the one.
-Sex & the City

"You only stay where you are until you decide where you'd rather be."

"I do my thing, and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful."
-Boy Meets World

"Wait for the man who pursues you, the one who will make an ordinary moment seem magical, the kinda man who brings out the best in you and makes you want to be a better woman, wait for the man who will be your best friend, the person who will drop everything to be with you, wait for the man who makes you smile like no other boy makes you smile, wait for the man who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats & no makeup, but loves it when you get all dolled up for him, wait for the man who praises God for you,and encourages you daily in your walk, and most importantly wait for the Man who is more in Love with God than you."

"He's not perfect, and you're not either. But if he can make you laugh, if he admits to being human, and making mistakes, hold on to him...give him the most you can. He's not gonna quote sappy poetry and he's not gonna be thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you can break: his heart. So don't hurt him, don't change him, don't analyze, and don't expect more than he can give. Smile when he makes you happy, let him know when he makes you mad, and miss him when he's not there. Because perfect guys don't exist, but there's always that one boy who is perfect for you..."

[Cory: It's an interesting feeling, you know?
Shawn: What, knowing it's over?
Cory: No, being the only guy in the world who knows it's not.]
-Boy Meets World

"I wasn't sure this day would ever come, but you were. I wasn't sure love could survive everything we put it through, but you were. You were always strong and always sure. And now I know I want you to stand beside me for the rest of my life. That's what I'm sure of."
-Boy Meets World

Quotes are my favorite!

"I have been heart broken. You can't breathe, your eyes are pouring a thousand tears a second and you can't foresee going on with love because you never want to feel this way again. But then you have to look in the mirror and say 'Shut up, eat some ice cream, be by yourself for a while and think about who you are and who you want to be - then, go out and find someone compatible.' A broken heart feels like the worst thing in the whole world, but it really helps you decide what you want and don't want. You learn a lot from a broken heart."
-Jennifer Love Hewitt

"Blessed are the hearts that can bend, they shall never be broken."
-Albert Camus

"You are way too young to not believe it's gonna be okay."
-One Tree Hill

"Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."
-Conan O'Brien

"And we were dressed from head to toe in love...the only label that never goes out of style."
-Sex & the City, The Movie

"Did you say it? I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life. Did you say it? Make a plan, set a goal, work towards it. But every now and then, look around. Drink it in. Cause, this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."
-Grey's Anatomy

"It is what it is."

"I may not be perfect but Jesus thinks I'm to die for!"

"God may not always give us answers, but He always gives us grace."

"Perfect people don't exist but there is always that one person that is perfect for you."

Live for the moments you can't put into words ♥

“There are certain shades of limelight that can wreck a girl's complexion”

"All every girl wants is one boy to prove to her that they're not all the same."

"JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS, DOESN'T MEAN IT SHOULD BE."

"I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it."
-Audrey Hepburn

"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe that loving is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."
-Audrey Hepburn

"I believe love works. I also believe love is work."

I've Learned:

I've learned
that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is
be someone who can be loved.
The rest is up to them.

I've learned -
that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.

I've learned -
that it takes years to build up trust,
and only seconds to destroy it.

I've learned -
that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned -
that you can get by on charm
for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned -
that you shouldn't compare
yourself to the best others can do
but to the best you can do.

I've learned -
that it's not what happens to people
that's important. It's what they do about it.

I've learned -
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned -
that no matter how thin you slice it,
there are always two sides.

I've learned -
that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I've learned -
that it's a lot easier
to react than it is to think.

I've learned -
that you should always leave
loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned -
that you can keep going
long after you think you can't.

I've learned -
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I've learned -
that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.

I've learned -
that regardless of how hot and steamy
a relationship is at first,
the passion fades and there had better be
something else to take its place.

I've learned -
that heroes are the people
who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.

I've learned -
that learning to forgive takes practice.

I've learned -
that there are people who love you dearly,
but just don't know how to show it.

I've learned -
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned -
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned -
that sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned -
that sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me
the right to be cruel.

I've learned -
that true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I've learned -
that just because someone doesn't love you
the way you want them to doesn't mean
they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned -
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned _
that you should never tell a child
their dreams are unlikely or outlandish.
Few things are more humiliating, and
what a tragedy it would be
if they believed it.

I've learned -
that your family won't always
be there for you. It may seem funny,
but people you aren't related to
can take care of you and love you
and teach you to trust people again.
Families aren't biological.

I've learned -
that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you
every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned -
that it isn't always enough
to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn
to forgive yourself.

I've learned -
that no matter how bad
your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned -
that our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned -
that sometimes when my friends fight,
I'm forced to choose sides
even when I don't want to.

I've learned -
that just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned -
that sometimes you have to put
the individual ahead of their actions.

I've learned -
that we don't have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.

I've learned -
that you shouldn't be so
eager to find out a secret.
It could change your life forever.

I've learned -
that two people can look
at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.

I've learned -
that no matter how you try to protect
your children, they will eventually get hurt
and you will hurt in the process.

I've learned -
that there are many ways of falling
and staying in love.

I've learned -
that no matter the consequences,
those who are honest with themselves
get farther in life.

I've learned -
that no matter how many friends you have,
if you are their pillar you will feel lonely
and lost at the times you need them most.

I've learned -
that your life can be changed
in a matter of hours
by people who don't even know you.

I've learned -
that even when you think
you have no more to give,
when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

I've learned -
that writing, as well as talking,
can ease emotional pains.

I've learned -
that the paradigm we live in
is not all that is offered to us.

I've learned -
that credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned -
that the people you care most about in life
are taken from you too soon.

I've learned -
that although the word "love"
can have many different meanings,
it loses value when overly used.

I've learned -
that it's hard to determine
where to draw the line
between being nice and
not hurting people's feelings
and standing up for what you believe.

true love never dies

In 50 years I hope to be just as in love as my grandparents were today. :)

My Pawpaw told me about how my Mawmaw had red high heel shoes on when they first met, "and a red dress too!" ... and how he thought, "I'd like to marry a girl like that." ... and then he said "and I did! I got to marry a girl like that." ... awwwwwwww now HOW adorable is he?? Really??

Please note how he said he "GOT" to marry a girl like that. He considered it a privilege. And that my friend is how it should be...always.

She told me about when he proposed and how he still remembers certain special moments from thier past, like the time they first met, and how thoughtful that was of him.... She said, "People will never forget the thoughtful things you do for them." How true.

I am actually blessed to be dating a guy that remembers those little important things- the time we first held hands, the DATE we first kissed, the time we first cuddled, the first movie we watched, etc. etc. ... I am a lucky girl :)

Good Advice

"There are things you'd love to hear
that you would never hear
from the person whom you would like to hear them from,
but don't be so deaf as not to hear it
from the one who says it from his heart."

He's Just Not That Into You

SOME OF MY FAVORITE EXCERPTS FROM "He's Just Not That Into You":::

If a (sane) guy really likes you, there ain't nothing that's going to get in his way. And if he's not sane, why would you want him?

We are all beautiful, smart, funny women, and we shouldn't be wasting our time figuring out why a guy isn't calling us.

If the guy you're dating doesn't seem to be completely into you, or you feel the need to start "figuring him out", please consider the glorious thought that he might just not be that into you. And then free yourself to go find the one that is.

When a guy is into you, he lets you know it. He calls, he shows up, he wants to meet your friends, he can't keep his eyes and hands off you, and when it's time to have sex, he's more than overjoyed to oblige.

You know you deserve to have a great relationship.

Don't waste the pretty!

Men don't forget how much they like you, so put down the phone.

He's just not that into you if he's not calling you. Men know how to use the phone.

Oh sure, they say they're busy. They say that they don't have even a moment in their insanely busy day to pick up the phone. It was just THAT CRAZY. Bullcrap. With the advent of cell phones and speed dialing it is almost impossible NOT to call you.

If I were into you, you would be the bright spot in my horribly busy day. Which would be a day that I would never be too busy to call you.

Here's something to think about: Calling when you say you're going to is the very first brick in the house you are building of love and trust. If he can't lay this one stupid brick down, you ain't never gonna have a house, baby. And it's cold outside.

Missing someone is a sign of a healthy relationship. Not respecting your need to have some form of communication with him while he's away is not. Regardless of his dislike for talking on the phone, he should respect and care for you enough to call you, if only because he knows it will make you happy.

Men are NEVER too busy to get what they want.

If he's choosing not to make a simple effort that would put you at ease and bring harmony to a recurring fight, then he doesn't respect your feelings and needs.

"Hanging out" is NOT dating.

THE IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING EXCUSE:
Really? Is better than nothing what we're going for now? I was hoping for at least a lot better than nothing. Or perhaps even something. Have you lost your marbles? Why should you feel honored for getting scraps of his time? Just because he's busy doesn't make him more valuable. "Busy" does not mean "better".

I know. Every two weeks, once a month, seeing someone, having a little love and affection may help you get through the day or the week or the month- but will it get you through a lifetime?

I don't want to be "sort of dating" someone. I don't want to be "sort of hanging out" with someone. I don't want to spend a lot of my energy suppressing all my feelings so I appear uninvolved. I want to be involved. I want to be sleeping with someone I know I'll see again because they've already demonstrated to me that they're trustworthy and honorable- and INTO ME.

If you don't know where the relationship is going, it's okay to pull over and ask.

There is a guy out there that will tell everyone that he's your boyfriend. Quit goofing around and go find him.

I know it's nice to have a companionship and wake up with somebody that you really like, but that's what pets are for. Pets are God's way of saying, "Don't lower the bar because you're lonely."

We deserve more than a slumber party.

What Every Woman Should Have & Know

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD HAVE:

  • one old love she can imagine going back to and one who reminds her how far she has come...
  • enough money within her control to move out & rent a place of her own even if she never wants to or needs to
  • something perfect to wear if an employer or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour
  • a youth she's content to leave behind
  • a past juicy enough she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age
  • a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra
  • one friend who always makes her laugh and one who lets her cry
  • a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family
  • eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored
  • a feeling of control over her destiny

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW:
  • how to fall in love without losing herself
  • how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship...AND how to change a tire!!!
  • when to try harder & when to walk away
  • that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents
  • that her childhood may not have been perfect but it's over
  • what she would and wouldn't do for love and more
  • how to live alone even if she doesn't like it
  • whom she CAN trust, whom she CAN'T trust, and why she shouldn't take it personally
  • where to go...whether it be her best friend's kitchen table or a charming inn in the woods...when her soul needs soothing
  • what she can and can't accomplish in a day, month, and year.

My new favorite book is "No One Else Will Listen: A girl's conversations with God." Check it out! Here's some bits & pieces..

"Forgive me, Lord, but I'm turning to you because nobody else will listen. ... I prayed when I was just a kid, prayers I have been taught. It was all very innocent and simple. Well, I'm not so innocent any more and it isn't simple any more. It's real, very real. And even if I never see you, never hear an answer, I know that you too are real."

"Sometimes it seems nobody loves me, Lord. And to be quite frank, I don't see how they can. I am so clumsy so much of the time. My hair looks awful, I'm having trouble with my skin. I eat too much, I often stuff myself when I feel ashamed. I say and do stupid things. I cry for no good reason. I lash out at people and feel sorry for myself. Lord, help me remember that no miracle is beyond you if I will just relax and stop fighting life the way I do. Nobody can hurt me half as much as I've been hurting myself. Thanks for not despising me even though I'm such a mess."

"I get so discouraged about myself sometimes. All these faults. I keep trying to correct them, but just when I think I've got some of them licked, a couple of new ones, worse ones sometimes, pop up. Or I'll do or say something I thought I would never do again. I'm shocked at myself. I could kick myself. WON'T I LEARN?! Please be patient with me Lord, and teach me to be more patient with myself. Knowing you still love me despite these faults and setbacks helps a lot. Help me not to get too discouraged with myself."
