Baby

In December of my senior year of high school {2004}, Alex surprised me with a trip to go pick out a puppy! We went to this house on the other side of town. It was obvious this woman was a "puppy seller." Alex had found an ad for a Chihuahua and poodle mixed puppy and that's what we were there to get. Either lack of research or lack of communication led to disappointment when we get there and realize the puppy I came to get was not 6 weeks old yet, and I couldn't have her until then.

Well, if you know me, then you know how impulsive I am. Did you think I was leaving that place without a puppy?!?! Surely not...

She showed us some other puppies she had, like the one I had come to get. She showed me this puppy, a Chihuahua and {some type of} terrier mix. It was born in September so, obviously more than six weeks old. She said that she originally had two, but that this puppy's sister had been outside in the back yard and a HAWK had came and swooped her up! How awful!! So, to make a long story short: I came home with my puppy! I put her in my lap and Alex drove us home...only to have to throw up on me NINE times on the way! I was nervous about my recent purchase to say the least...but was SO in love already!!

I was thinking of a name and Alex said, "Well, you already called her Baby..." so, there ya go. For those of you who asked, "Why didn't you come up with a better name for her??" {haha} then that is why. Blame Alex! ;)

Her name fit her well. Especially when she was smaller, she would sit up on her back legs in your arms while you held her, just sitting up, like a baby. :) {you can see her still doing it in the 4th picture down! :) } She also was SUCH a puppy and our {vowed to forever be pet-free} home was put to the test {and failed a good percent of them, haha}...

Alex had really good intentions. He wanted something to keep me company while he was away at Appalachian. However, not much too much thought was put into the best present ever, simply because the following August I'd start school at Appalachian as well and, well, I hope you like your new pet, Mom and Dad! :)

No but really, if you know me, you know this dog has my heart!! A lot of it actually!! Despite her adorable little under bite, not being able to take her on a ride in the car {for the most part} without her throwing up in the car as soon as you've arrived at your destination, and the small fortune I've had to spend replacing things she tore up as a puppy and on vet bills...she is my absolute favorite!!
